This spherical tripod head allows a photographer to set the camera/lens “entrance pupil” [nodal point] exactly over the correct axis of rotation. This helps to prevent parallax error inherent when shooting multiple images side by side using a standard pan and tilt, 3 way head or ball head rotator.

Without parallax errors you can then seamlessly stitch multiple photographs together forming a larger higher resolution composite image, a full 360º panorama and even a complete ‘spherical’ image to present as an image file, QuickTime or Flash movie.

Some Panoramic Tripod heads can cost hundreds more, and have less features.

How to shoot panoramas

1. Check that on your camera the mounting screw thread hole aligns with the centre of the lens (some smaller compact digital cameras have an offset mounting hole - these are NOT suitable for use with this panorama head).

2. Check the distance between the base of the camera and the centre of the lens (shown alongside as measurement 'A') this can be a MAXIMUM of 125mm.

3. Check the distance between the mounting hole in the base of the camera and the front of the lens (shown alongside as measurement 'B'). For full 360 x 180º operation of the panorama head this can be a maximum of 85mm (this allows the camera to panned around AND swung around to point directly updwards for a 'zenith' shot). For 'single row' panoramas this distance can be a maximum of 130mm.
